Hey kidlit-loving friends!
I am so excited to announce the release of my new rhyming picture book, Bright Winter Night, which published last month with Amazon/Two Lions. This heartwarming story follows a group of woodland creatures as they embark on a magical journey through the snowy forest.
In a tale told through rhyming couplets, forest animals come together—despite their differences—to build a sleigh and race off to see the Northern Lights. The book is not only an entertaining read for you and your kiddos, but also a story of friendship and the magic of nature. The illustrations, by Ashling Lindsay, are absolutely stunning and truly bring the story to life.
But the fun doesn't stop at the end of the book!
Yesterday, I accepted a special challenge from my own kids to create a mini sleigh from items found in nature, just like the one in the book. I've accepted their challenge, and I am excited to embark on my own nature adventure and share the results with you all. For me, this is not just a fun activity, but also a way to connect with nature, my kids, and the story in a meaningful way.
Will you join us?
Collect twigs, sticks, leaves, and whatever you can find from nature (but only pick up what is on the ground, please!) and put together your own mini-sleigh. Then follow me on TikTok and Instagram, post the results of your build-a-sleigh challenge, and tag me in your post!
I’m going to do mine over this weekend, but feel free to join in whenever you can. Bright Winter Night is now available at Amazon, Bookshop.org, and wherever books are sold. If you haven’t already, grab a copy of the book and join us in this winter-y nature adventure!
"Come on, friends, let's go GO GO!"
